The photos i have sent are of the Paradise Kids House and Teachers College.
Many works are happening and soon we will be ready to move in. The rains have nearly gone and the workers are working hard
Hi Rev T.
Since you left
for Autralia everything is ok with the buildings;
The foundation of the
teachers college is surppose to be compacted within this week.
The Paradise Kids residence
building foundation is underway but there are big stones underground and that is
what will somehow slow them down, but they have contracted some
people to brake the stones.
The Syke Street school wall is almost finished the
remaining part is small.
The land at Waterloo is ok I always go there every
week to check on the land.
The Wallepole Street project is ok I always visit
them everyday.
By next week me and Pastor Kenser will be starting a
teaching program for them to understand the church and our intensions
better, we want to prepare them for Waterloo earlier.
Everything is under
control nothing has gone wrong since you left for Australia.
In one faith, one
heart, good programs together we move for the success of the mission
Jared.
Books Books Books - Over 600 boxes of Books are soon headed to Africa
Its hard to imagine what our lives would have been without books; remember growing up, scribbling and colouring in; reading bed time stories and comics; your first grade 1 text book, the smell of that freshly printed book and the excitement of flipping through it. Remember reading our first real novel and how it made you feel after you finished the whole book; the first time we received our college or Uni books and the anxiety of flipping through the chapters. These memories we take for granted, but in 3rd World countries Children and Student will never experience them. Books in 3rd World Africa are rare and expensive, in most areas they are just no existent; yet here, we throw them away.
PK4A have taken up the challenge to send books to the East Coast of Africa to the West Coast and everywhere in between.
All types, any type- Novels, Educational, Spiritual anything and everything.
Most of these books were collected by the young students from Bond University and Trinity Lutheran College on Queensland's Gold Coast in Australia.
Victoria & New South Wales are also collecting books, soon their books will join the Queensland books for their journey to East and West Africa.
Also in the UK & EU our PK4A frienda are collecting Books and Computers
One of the sites is where the Cathedral will be built in Syke St, there are no Computer Services in the whole area. My dreams are to spread out as much as possible ,my request is when you send some goods, always remember in sending Computers,Printers and Binding machines. My goal is to Computerise the Youth of Sierra Leone, with time I would like expand their knowledge especially in Software and Hardware. As part of this,I have so many other ideas that I will explore and with time and you will receive the proposals. As for this first one, you will receive my proposal in a very short time. Also, I have a problem with my phone ,the one you gave me. It had a shock, and it is broken on a side and even the screen has a problem now..I am looking forward to the ones you are sending. Hope to hearing from you soon.
Welcome Brothers and Sisters in Christ and supporters of PK4A.
Another month and so much has happened. Our constant dialogue and negotiations for the acquisitions of land and educational facilities, with Local Government Departments have been rewarded with a number of blessings. The Syke St School and Wilberforce School have now been officially offered on a 49 year lease. With over 2500 students, from Primary to Junior High, 60+ teachers and supporting staff, our responsibility grows with every passing day. Most of these teachers and staff have worked tirelessly without pay and very little or no support from anyone.School facilities are non existent. The pledged containers, loaded with Books, Desks and Equipment from PK4A are greatly needed and will be much appreciated by the Teachers and Students alike.
Syke St School
The Syke St School is situated on a 3.6 hectare site in the Central Business District along the main road, Syke St. With so much land, we have decided to allocate an area for a Cathedral on school grounds. This project of building the Cathedral will be met by my friends and helpers the "Missionary Fraternity of Thessalonica" in Greece. Funds permitting, the Cathedral will include, Christian Book Shop Cafe and accommodation for visiting Volunteers.During February and March, I had the pleasure of having the company of Dr Constintine Christomanos. Dr Christomanos is a former Lecturer in Education at the University of Thessalonika. Representing the Fraternity of Thessalonica, he has always been a great supporter of education for the poor and has extended his support to our mission in Sierra Leone. With his help and Thessalonica we hope to begin building in May this year.
Wilberforce School
Located near the beautifull sea, Wilberforce Primary and Junior High has over 1000 students and some 30+ teachers and supporting staff. Lacking everything we would consider necessary to operate a school, its need is great.
Needless to say, the running cost and refurbishment costs for these two projects alone will run into $200,000.00 plus for the first 12 months and then $100,000.00 plus for ongoing opperation.
It is only with your continued donations, prayers and our combined faith in God that this can happen, so I thank you now for your help and thank the Lord Jesus Christ for his blessing to us all.
